Breaking!! Fuel Tanker razes 36 Houses in Lagos

No fewer than 36 houses have been consumed by an raging inferno after a diesel-laden truck crashed and burst into flame in the Idimu, Egbe Idimu Local Council Development Area of Lagos shortly around 12.10am on Saturday. Details of the crash are still sketchy but emergency agencies said on Saturday that it was too early to know if any one died in the inferno, which was said to have been fueled by the contents of the tanker, which spilled and spread along the road and its environs after it crashed. The South-West Public Relations Officer of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye, told our correspondent on the telephone that the response of the residents when the fire started, helped to avert a loss of lives in the crash. Farinloye added, “That is exactly what we have been preaching during our grassroots sensitisation programme. Our training is in how people should respond when there is an emergency. The residents should be commended for their response; they evacuated immediately the fire st. This was what averted what would have been a tragedy and we believe that others should emulate them. “About 36 houses were affected, but we thank God no one died. I can tell you that the situation has been brought under control.”
